Who am I
Hi, I’m Julie — a visual designer based in Brussels, working mostly with organisations focused on social and behaviour change.
For over a decade, I’ve designed posters, illustrated books, campaigns, workshops and objects for humanitarian and development programmes — working on topics like child protection, nutrition, WASH, disability inclusion, mental health, education, gender and migration. My clients have included UNICEF, IOM, the Commons Network, and government programmes in India or Vanuatu.
What draws me to this work is the challenge at its core: how do you take something complicated, sensitive, or hard to talk about, and turn it into something clear, warm, and human? I believe good visual design isn’t decoration — it’s a tool for understanding, dialogue and change.
My approach blends:
- Participatory design — working with communities, not just for them
- Behaviour change thinking — designing with the goal of shifting understanding or action, changing habits requires a shift in our point of view
- Visual storytelling — using illustration, layout and narrative to make ideas stick
While most of my past work has been with humanitarian and development agencies, I’m increasingly working with a wider range of mission-driven organisations — social enterprises, foundations, advocacy groups, cooperatives — anyone using visual communication to support social good.
